Winter provides so many entertaining outdoor opportunities! Of course, skating and skiing are among the most popular, but check out more activities. Some of them are truly challenging and a bit dangerous, while others are just plain fun! Which one would you like to try?

1. Slide from Preda to Bergün, Switzerland

At 6 kilometers long this is the longest floodlit sledging run in Europe! Visitors come to Preda by train, which also provides a very scenic ride. And then they hit the track, where they have an uninterrupted slide.

2. Ski Jump in Steinach, Germany

Now the sport is dangerous and for professionals only. But no one has ever born knowing how to do it, right. What you do is go to Rennsteig Outdoor Center, where you are being attached to the ropes and land safely on the ground, after having an amazing soar off a 150-meter ski jump!

Why to go there?: The center offers various courses, but you have to book in advance.








3. Snow Kiting

Another extreme and incredibly cool activity, which is a paragliding-snowboarding hybrid. Now one truly needs to be courageous and eager to learn – this is a dangerous activity, which requires training.

Where to go?: There is a snow kiting school in Obertauern, Austria, which provides lessons by experienced teachers as well as great outdoors and a thick layer of snow.

4. Snowboarding

Now this activity goes along with skiing, but is a bit more challenging. However, it doesn’t require to be a professional – more and more people try this alternative to skiing and find it to be sometimes even more amusing and thrilling.

Where to go?: All the same skiing resorts and villages have snowboarding facilities, that the guests can use.

5. Pick a Resort and Go Skiing

One of the most favorite winter activities. Anywhere were you have a mountainous range, you will find skiing resorts and villages. Slide the slopes and great tracks during the day, have a nice hot drink and dinner in front of a fire place in the evening. What a blast!

6. Go Dogsledding in Greenland

Tourists can go snowmobiling or skiing in Greenland, but nothing compares to the old tradition of traveling – dog sledding. Dogs are man’s best friends and it is an unforgettable experience of joining forces. Besides these adorable dogs love hard work, to run and cold temperatures. Besides they know the snow – sled dogs know where ice is too thin and don’t go there.

Why to go there?: Mushing is a true art in Greenland – you will not only experience exciting trip through gorgeous environment, but will also learn how Inuits master the sled dogs – it is a thrilling experience as well!

7. Play Ice Hockey

The sport is tough, but can be very challenging and fun as well. In Canada – everyone plays ice hockey, even Justin Bieber. Usually ice skating rink is preferred, but even you yard with ice on it will suit the ardent players.

Where to go?: To see a professional match, go to Canada or USA, where athletes fight to blood and the fans are the wildest among the wild.






8. Go Snowmobiling in Alaska

The activity also attracts those, hungry for speed. All you need is a vast land, covered in a thick layer of snow. Matanuska-Susitna valley in Alaska works so well for this. And also there are guided tours, so that beginners would have a blast too.

9. Luge

10. Skating

Among the most favorite winter activities around the world! In the cities locals and guests can hit colorful and entertaining skating rinks, where music, hot wine and happy people spin around. Even sunny towns like San Diego cannot resist and get a skating rink during the Christmas period!

When to go?: Usually cities get the rinks installed in November and have them all through the winter. Meanwhile, frozen lakes and ponds are also an option.
