This Video Of A Cheetah And Dog Playing Makes A Good Point

This Video Of A Cheetah And Dog Playing Makes A Good PointThis video, of Max (the Labrador) and Savanna (the Cheetah), originates from the Cincinnati Zoo in December, 2013. To understand how they can play together so easily, it helps to know that the two slender animals have known each other since September. They met before either of them was even a year old: both were approximately 12-13 weeks old at the time.

Every animal with a limbic system, and maybe even some without, is capable of learning through seeing. They never learned to see each other, or their kind, as a threat during their upbringing. We are all capable of empathy and understanding: co-existing and enjoying consciousness. These 2 young animals make the point nicely: if you are open to it, you can and should play nicely with other mammals (and respectful to non-mammalian life too).

Beyond the world of mammals, you cannot count of animals to be capable of empathy, but they mostly will not threaten if themselves not threatened. But, as John “Tigerman” Wagenraar shows us in his experience with lions: mammals can be your friends. And as the creative escapes of the honey badger remind us: life is most certainly conscious.
