The name was a media label
Janus was the name used by The Weather Channel. It should not be presented as a National Weather Service naming designation. The old live totals and forecast wording also belong to the event as it unfolded.
A regional gallery is not one measurement site
Snow in a city street and lake-effect accumulation elsewhere can come from different local processes and totals. Compare the visible settings without treating every photograph as evidence of the same depth. The collection is a historical record, not a current weather bulletin.
