Couple Decides Not To Have A Traditional Wedding And Travels To Iceland Instead

When Jeremy and Rachelle sat down to start planning their wedding, the daunting thought of picking a venue, creating a menu, guest list and all the other odds and ends became a reality. Not to mention the huge financial cost. They sat there silently thinking it over until Rachelle said: “Why don’t we get married in Iceland instead?”.

A few weeks later, with no set plans, Jeremy and Rachelle were living out of van travelling around Iceland. They were hiking over glaciers, under waterfalls, exploring moss worlds, playing with horses, and relaxing in hot springs. All with the idea that they would know the spot to get married when they found it.

One day they discovered the ancient ruins of an old church, the only building to survive a volcanic eruption that took place long ago. The lava flow from the eruption parted ways and went around the church sparring it. Immediately Jeremy and Rachelle knew they had found their location. On the spot they exchanged their vows, in what has to be the most intimate way possible; alone together, with only the natural world as witness. Jeremy gave Rachelle her ring, and she gave him his. They kissed, hugged, and jumped back in the van to continue their adventure.

With the extra money Jeremy and Rachelle saved by not having a traditional wedding, they were able to afford to fly me out at the end of their time in Iceland to document the trip.
