Matthew Albanese creates small-scale meticulously detailed models of outdoor scenes and landscapes using everyday, simple, mundane materials and transform them into an image through the lens of his camera making them look hyper-realistic. He has used ordinary household items such as spices, cotton, colored paper, ink, steel wool and glasses to create his dioramas.
His work involves the construction of small-scale meticulously detailed models using various materials and objects to create emotive landscapes. Matthew Albanese began his Strange Worlds project in 2008, and since then has created more than a dozen breathtaking models. Initially Here are some of his more recent creations.

"Icebreaker"

Ingredients : 25 pounds of sugar cooked at varying temperatures (hard crack & pulled sugar recipes) It's basically made out of candy. salt, egg whites, corn syrup, cream of tartar, powdered sugar, blue food coloring, India ink & flour.

"Paprika Mars"

Ingredients : 12 pounds of paprika, cinnamon, nutmeg, chili powder and charcoal.

"Aurora Borealis"

Ingredients : This one was made by photographing a beam of colored light against a black curtain to achieve the edge effect. The trees were composited from life. The stars are simply strobe light through holes in cork board.

"Box of Lightening"

To achieve the lightning effect in this scene, Matthew built a large box with a Plexiglass face and painted it black. He then etched out the lighting so light could pass through
