A powerful clear-air lightning strike was captured near Darwin, hitting roughly 200–250 meters away from the observer. These cloud-to-ground bolts can travel an incredible 15–20 km from the main thunderstorm and strike dry areas far from the rain. The impact near the base of the tree created a noticeable burst of dust immediately after the strike, showing just how intense the energy was. Events like this remind us how unpredictable and dangerous lightning can be in open environments.
