Pay attention to the sequence of visible change and the sound that follows. The camera’s distance and limited field of view matter. A dramatic recording cannot by itself provide a reliable measurement of eruption size, local exposure or conditions outside the frame.

Follow the plume, then listen for the sound

Watch the water and foreground before following the plume upward. Their relative stillness gives the eruption a setting, and the interval before the sound arrives becomes part of the experience of watching from a distance. The video is especially arresting because several senses of scale meet in one frame: an apparently calm bay, a mountain and a rapidly changing column above it.

The archive caption called the event relatively small and drew a comparison with much larger eruptions. A distant video is not enough to establish that ranking. The changing air around the plume is visible, but its appearance alone does not establish the mechanism.
