The higher Heuberg route is a different undertaking, with mountain terrain rather than a simple lakeside stroll. An Ice Walk is prepared only when conditions allow, and access depends on the operator's explicit clearance and local hazard information. Stay on the authorised route and follow the signs rather than using a photograph to judge the surface. A white lake can look inviting from shore while remaining closed to visitors. The winter landscape is still worth seeing from the permitted paths, even when walking out onto the ice is not an option. ^[4]

Choose winter activities separately. A marked walk, a beginner ski session and ice fishing each involve different equipment, permissions and opening conditions.
