An orbital view can reveal light across a broad cloud field, but it does not show what every flash did at ground level. Nor does a brief bright patch supply a measurement of the storm’s local severity.
Compare the same subject from another place
In Craig Shimala’s Chicago storm recording, buildings give the lightning a recognisable scale. In Vincent Brady’s panoramic night-sky work, projection changes the viewer’s sense of space again. The viewpoint is part of the story, not merely the place where the camera happens to sit.
