Pictured above, Telluride is often called the most beautiful ski town on the entire continent. This Victorian-era silver-mining community is tucked deep in a box canyon in the San Juan Mountains, lined with Victorian storefronts and frontier-era facades.

Aspen
One of Colorado’s most well-known mountains towns, Aspen offers some of the most magnificent mountain scenery in the state in addition to providing the opportunity for world-class recreation, including skiing at four different ski areas in the winter as well as hiking, mountain biking and fishing in the summer.

Ouray
Known as the “Switzerland of America,” Ouray is surrounded by impressive mountains and cliffs that offer outstanding hiking, climbing and mountain biking during the summer, and ice climbing in the winter, with the world’s first ice climbing park created here in 1994. Its Main Street is filled with century- old Victorian structures and old western mining town-style buildings.

Silverton
Connected to Ouray by the famed “Million Dollar Highway,” on the southern side of the San Juan Mountains, Silverton has been much acclaimed over the years, including being honored as “Best Small Town,” by Elevated Outdoors which noted that it “absolutely crushed the competition” with “no town in the state representing the vitality of soul skiing better than this tough little village high in the San Juans.”

Creede
Creede, at the eastern end of the San Juan Mountains, sits in a former volcanic caldera, surrounded by sheer cliffs.
